If Not Here ... Where?

If not in forums like these, where do fans trumpet their support? If not at times like these .... when?

Don't give up Grace. I won't give up if you won't.

Well Dale.....She seems healthy enough........is driving the ball very well. She averaged 274 yards today, hit 11 of 14 fairways and had 29 putts. Yet she soared to a 9 over, 80. What in the world?? I feel badly for her because I know she expects to do better........she can do and be better. But this is getting hard to watch. I'll stick with her through these bad rounds. She said she hit bottom last September when she wanted to quit golf among other things. She has come out at the beginning of every year with high hopes, enthusiasm and a promise of good things to come. Then she has bad rounds, struggles with physical health and mental toughness. By the end of the summer she's had enough, shuts down and goes back to Korea. This is two weeks in a row where she's shot her self out of the tournament after one round........What can I say.......I'm more of a realist.............her chances of making the cut this weekend aren't very good. I'd love to see her do it, but she's just to far removed from the leaders and there are just too many talented, hungry golfers to have rounds like this. I am concerned about the toll rounds like this may be taking on her. By her own admission on her profile on the LPGA website, she's a stress nut case. I don't see her hanging around another 3 years while she has rounds like todays's and the first round last week. And that is too bad.............I'm still hoping she can figure it out and turn things around soon and become relevant again............ciao!!

Hoot,

I agree with everything you said. She has zero chance of making the cut this week. What I want to see is "no quit, no matter what". If she has an "I can't do this anymore" attitude and withdraws or seems to give up, that's a sign of the lack of mental toughness you talk about.

I'll have more thoughts on this tomorrow, but for now I just want to see how she does in round 2. Please ... no quit, no matter what. If I see that, I will be happy with round 2, no matter what the score.

Today was not about golf. Today was about standing tall and being professional. Grace did that. Michelob Ultra is one of Grace's sponsors and that probably had a lot to do with it. Still, she could have just played out the round, but she finished it well. That says something to me.

You may say that I am an ultra fan extolling the virtues of an ordinary round. But if you have paid any attention to me in the past, you know that I will not hesitate to fuss with Grace and constructively criticize what she does.

I will never know what it must be like to have regularly seen myself at the top of the leaderboard in almost every tournament I have entered and then, after going through a rough time, look up one day and see myself at the bottom of the leaderboard in the tournament I am currently playing.

This was no ordinary round for Grace. She stood tall and she finished well. And I take note of that with pride.

guy4grace recently posted a message that said Grace has given herself 3 years to reach the top of the rankings. I think that is sensible and reasonable. She will still only be about 32 years old in 3 years, so if she can get to the top again, I believe she will be able to stay there for at least a couple of years.

The climb back to the top of the rankings will take time so she will need to return to form within the next year for her to reach her goal.
