As you've stated, the Solheim isn't a competition for the "best" players in the world. It's simply a Match Play exhibition between the USA and Europe.

There's no point in bringing in the factor of "world" players who aren't US or Euro.

Why vote and comment on a thread if you're not interested in the competition?
In the same way, the LPGA events and the PGA events are exhibitions.

At least make it Europe (and possibly Africa as well since the top South African women like Lee-Anne Pace play on the LET) vs The Americas. Yes, the overwhelming majority of the latter team would still be holding US passports but it would allow for, say, Julieta Granada and/or whoever's the top Canadian on Tour to be eligible, and Lorie Kane and Lorena Ochoa would get to be a captain or assistant captain.

For those who want a competition between the Korean women versus somebody else. I say great, now go find somebody to put up the money to make it happen or shut up and enjoy what we do have.

The best Mike Whan has come up with is the International Crown to run in the alternant years between the Solheim Cup years. The tournament competition will have 4 player teams from 8 countries. I suppose a year from now, you folks bitching about the Solheim Cup will bitch about the International Crown as well, since it will not have all the best players either.
Agree!

Just saw that the International Crown will determine the eight countries in November, 2013 and the four players for each team on Monday of the 2013 Kraft Nabisco

Country Standings | Professional Golfers | Tour Schedule, Leaderboard & News | LPGA

Since the tournament isn't until late July, this is a set-up for controversy when players and possibly even countries that perform well during the season aren't included.

It seems rather pointless and arbitrary.

The countries probably won't alter - with the possible exception of a Thailand/England battle for the last spot - but the players, particularly on the Korean and American teams, could change dramatically in the three months between the Dinah Shore and the International Crown.

There's no logistical concerns,so I don't see why they can't wait until the last minute to finalise the participants...

Problem is that LET tour has tournaments after the LPGA season ends and before the LPGA season begins, though at lower ratings. That would give the European teams a possible advantage in having players increase their rankings while others are not playing on the other tours during that short period of time. Not that it might matter or that this is even there thinking.

Also I think that you meant to say Kraft 2014 for the players. I think that the players are a little more extended to make sure that a current hot player may slip in, but otherwise not sure of the disconnect in the date difference.

As for number 9 or 10, tough luck.
