Solheim Cup...behind the times?

When I first read this article, I didn't pay attention to who wrote it but my reaction was, what the hell is this dumb guy thinking. You idiot!
Then I noticed who wrote it and had to say whoops, that wasn't a guy.
Oh well, females are not immune to being as stupid as guys sometimes.
South Korea vs the rest of the world? You have got to be kidding.
-----------------------------------------------------
The International Crown is one small step for women’s golf, but what is needed is a giant leap. Until there is a 12-player team from South Korea — the Se Ri Cup, maybe? — taking on the best of the rest of the world, there can be no blaming Park or anyone else for tuning out the Solheim Cup.

NY Times what do you expect.

But again reality.

This already existed. The Lexus Cup. Asia (8 Koreans +4 others) vs the World. With Se Ri Pak as Captain. That was the 2008 team. Which everyone tuned out.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills. (Guess the Movie)

What is "dumb" about this article?
Me, for once, totally agree with it!

See xmans post about the Lexus cup.
Do you think people should tune out the Solheim Cup?

PS: I have a suspicion that people like you will not be satisfied until the Solheim Cup is destroyed. You would rather not have the Solheim Cup in existence simply because the Koreans/Asians are not part of it.

My guess is that Inbee Park never spends much time watching golf on TV, whether it's men, women, regular season, Solheim, Ryder Cup, Koreans, Americans or Antarcticans.

It's a big leap on the part of Karen Crouse to assume that the reason Inbee said she wouldn't watch is because there are no Koreans in the Solheim Cup.

I generally like the Times, but Karen Crouse is a hack, in my opinion.

The key non-sensical part of her article is this passage:
"The real debate ought to be reserved for how the L.P.G.A. can continue to hold a prestigious international team event that excludes South Korea, which has 36 players in the world top 100."
Well, if the Solheim Cup were as irrelevant and uninteresting as she claims it is, how the hell is it still "prestigious?"

It's prestigious because fans like it and players value it, even if does not include all of the best players in the world.

And her final comment that golf needs a contest with a 12-member team from Korea taking on, presumably a 12-member team from the rest of the world is just absurd.

Great her harping on about Park not watching when she clearly quotes her saying something like 'It's going to be fun. I'm definitely going to watch'. So is she giving it a miss or going to watch?

I don't recall her raving about the Lexus Cup or it's forerunner.

Well, well,it's become rather chic to slam the Solheim.

'It's got no Koreans' ; 'some of those Euros are a bit meh' ; 'where's Inbee Park ?'.

I can't understand how so many people can miss the point. It doesn't claim to be a competition between the best golfers in the world, and those of us who enjoy it are perfectly fine with that.

Nobody is telling us something we don't already know.

''Hey,that Solheim Cup doesn't have any Asians in it.''

No shit,Sherlock. And there's me thinking a competition between the USA and Europe would be chock-full of players from Korea,Japan and Thailand...

Saint,

Here's a good Solheim Cup twitter exchange for you. I am a little surprised that Kerr's actions in 2011 came up.

It's not about winning. It's about Solheim points, chica

@Zoomm01 I'm not upset over anything. She's upset and bitter. And one always is the first time they're not picked.

@dcgrind1956 1. Ryann was a great pick. 2. It's meg, not meg and Beth or Rosie and meg. 3. Kerr never teed it up so can't just blame Ryann

@TheChristinaKim 3/3 Kerr was injured and couldn't play. OToole was 2 up with 2 to play and lost both holes to lose the Cup. No comparison.

@dcgrind1956 Kerr wasn't injured to the point she couldn't play. Seriously. She played 2days before with zero injury. Don't backseat drive

@TheChristinaKim I know, you won that day. So you also know that the PT advised her not to go. Why is that in dispute?

So Christina Kim is now saying Cristie Kerr was not medically unable to play in singles in 2011 ....

Way to stir the pot, @TheChristinaKim
