I imagine Meg will be next, followed by Juli. Since Rosie has not competed since 2006, except for the 2008 Corning, while Meg competed last year (don't know if she will this year) and Juli is in 9th place right now, that seems a logical progression.

I don't know. I'm wondering if Meg was deliberately excluded. Notice she was not quoted among the collection of notable players, former players, and former captains listed in the article. And Rosie did compete in one tournament last year (she qualified for the US Open). I'm not sure if that's a factor. During last year's Solheim Cup, there were rumors that Meg wasn't a strong enough assistant. She may have sealed her fate as a future Solheim captain

What is meant by 'strong enough assistant', Blue? The rumors were where?

Was too uninvolved. Wasn't with the program enough, anticipating Beth's needs, generally doing the assistant's job well enough. Was too laid back. If this is true, then picking Rosie is definitely an antidote to laid back.

I really liked Rosy as a player but not my first choice for the solheim.

Hi folks... I don't post often but we're at the Kraft, discussing women's golf and a question came up that none of us could answer so I immediately thought of this forum. Does anyone know if the Solheim (or Ryder) Cup captain gets any form of compensation? We all know that the players do not, thanks to the big controversy at the Ryder Cup a few years ago, but the captain gives up a good year of their life and while may not be playing a full time schedule, many are still competing and can't while they prep for the event. I did a google search and only found links to the Ryder Cup player situation. Thanks in advance! Deb. |

I doubt that she gets paid anything. However, don't make it out like it is a full time job for a year. There is time involved. but I do not think that it is consuming her life. Anyway, I think she is a good choice. Does she still work for The Golf Chan? |
