If It Had Been USA vs....

OK...just for fun..lets say the competition was tied after day 2 and the matchup was USA vs. the World...purely by Rolex Rankings vs the US Solheim qualifiers...here are hypothetical singles matchups...

M1: Cristie Kerr vs. Lorena Ochoa
M2: Paula Creamer vs. Yani Tseng
M3: Angela Stanford vs. Ji Yai Shin
M4: Kristy McPherson vs. Suzann Pettersen
M5: Brittany Lincicome vs. Karrie Webb
M6: Michelle Wie vs. In Kyung Kim
M7: Morgan Pressel vs. Helen Alfredsson
M8: Brittany Lang vs. Ai Miyazato
M9: Christina Kim vs. Eun Hee Ji
M10: Juli Inkster vs. Song Hee Kim
M11: Nicole Castrale vs. Catriona Matthew
M12: Natalie Gulbis vs. Lindsey Wright

I would have Ochoa, Shin, Pettersen, Webb, Miyazato, Ji, SH Kim, Matthew and Wright all winning...a 9-3 landslide

if it were USA vs. South Korea...

M1: Cristie Kerr vs. Ji Yai Shin
M2: Paula Creamer vs. In Kyung Kim
M3: Angela Stanford vs. Eun Hee Ji
M4: Kristy McPherson vs. Song Hee Kim
M5: Brittany Lincicome vs. Na Yeon Choi
M6: Michelle Wie vs. Seon Hwa Lee
M7: Morgan Pressel vs. Hee Won Han
M8: Brittany Lang vs. Ji Young Oh
M9: Christina Kim vs. Ji Hee Lee
M10: Juli Inkster vs. Jee Young Lee
M11: Nicole Castrale vs. Se Ri Pak
M12: Natalie Gulbis vs. Inbee Park

I would have Shin, SH Kim, Choi, SH Lee, Oh, JY Lee and Pak winning...the great match could be Wie-Seon Hwa...but Seon Hwa is a match play ace, winning the HSBC Match Play championship once and clinching the Lexus Cup her rookie year in match play...

So I have the World beating the US 9-3 and South Korea winning 7-5...but you never know...

bkb: Make it more interesting: EuroAsia and Africa (which is considered by some geographers a huge Continent) against the Americas and Oceania (to get everyone involved). I think I would take the huge Continent.

It is far away from Asia and even farther away from the Americas, but you have to get Webb on either side. She could be decisive. LOL

Americas/Oceania vs Euro/Asia/Africa

M1: Lorena Ochoa vs. Yani Tseng
M2: Cristie Kerr vs. Ji Yai Shin
M3: Paula Creamer vs. Suzann Pettersen
M4: Karrie Webb vs. In Kyung Kim
M5: Angela Stanford vs. Helen Alfredsson
M6: Lindsey Wright vs. Ai Miyazato
M7: Kristy McPherson vs. Eun Hee Ji
M8: Katherine Hull vs. Song Hee Kim
M9: Brittany Lincicome vs. Catriona Matthew
M10: Michelle Wie vs. Na Yeon Choi
M11: Morgan Pressel vs. Candie Kung
M12: Brittany Lang vs. Anna Nordvist

I would have Shin, Miyazato, Ji, SH Kim, Matthew and Nordvist winning...a 6-6 result...but look out for In Kyung Kim...she is playing extremely well this year...just missing a couple of shots for multiple wins...Hull is strong too, but SH Kim has been close to a major breakthrough this year...

I would put Oceania on the Asian team...which would all but give that team the odds to win...closer to Asia than America...in fact, the Australian Open in tennis sometimes calls itself the "Grand Slam of the Asia/Pacific"...and it's not just Webb...it's Hull and Wright as well...that could be a runaway win for Asia/Pacific

Arrg. No fun bkb. With the Australians in the Euro-Asia team it would be a no contest. Somehow we got to get the Australians on the American side. They are not that far from the Galapo Islands. LOL

Btw. In the Soccer World Cup, Oceania is always a problem. Lately FIFA has included the winner (normally Australia) in an elimination match against a South American team to decide who goes to the World Cup.. Euro-Asia-Africa against the Americas would be fine. Australia could be a flip-flop depending on where the events is taking places. Poor Australians, they are costumed to be moved as the world turns.

BKB - one thing about predicting is often a lot of us get it wrong. The USA team well win in a landslide, its so obvious. Or is it? :-)

OK...then how about this...Asia/Australia vs. America/Europe...kind of an East vs. West kind of competition...love to see Lorena and Karrie in Match Play...Ji Yai vs. Paula...Yani vs. Cristie...good stuff...

...although Lorena has skipped Lexus Cup...

...one of the problems with Solheim, from an LPGA persepective of American fans, is that a number of European player don't play the majority of their time on the LPGA tour...gotta get a tournament with more LPGA players...and the best ones, at that...but then again, I hate to say this...would the powers that be really want a competition where the American team might consistently be outgunned and underdogs?

Of course, didn't they beat the Europeans 28-0 over the weekend? lol!
