europe looks weak

I looked at the lpga money list at the top thirty players. To see if it would tell me anything about the makeup of the two teams.

14 americans in the top thirty!

4 europeans in the top thirty! I even had to include London born Sarah Lee

In the past, I always thought the paper comparisons showed the americans slightly stronger, but when playing the solheim the europeans always seemed a little stronger. Right now the europeans look like they are are on vacation.

Although a lot of Europeans play on the LPGA you have to remember that it is an American association.

Also, hasn't it always been the case that the Americans look better on the money list but the Europeans are better match play performers?

Talking

I imagine that soon we'll have the Nike Cup pitting the Koreans against the world although that already may have been suggested but the Korean girls couldn't find anyone willing to do battle with them.

If you did the team today, here's what it would look like:

Order of Merit:

Gwladys Nocera (FRA)
Laura Davies (ENG)
Stephanie Arricau (FRA)
Riikka Hakkarainen (FIN)
Veronica Zorzi (ITA)

World Ranking:

Annika Sorenstam
Liselotte Neumann
Catriona Matthew
Sophie Gustafson
Carin Koch

Obviously one of the captain's picks would be Suzann Pettersen. Yes, their world rankings aren't as high as the Americans, but that's not a team I'd sneeze at!

I would say it's the American team that looks the weaker. You only have three players in the top 10 of the ADT money list with the highest being 7th. Unfortunately the prize money on the LET is pretty poor compared to the LPGA. Don't underestimate the European girls.

Wink

If Brittany Lincicome is another addition to this US team , home course or not, Europe must be very worried ........ maybe if we expanded Europe to all of Europe and not just Great Britian and Ireland that would help ... damm ..... we already tried that .... I`ve got it ,Europe and South Korea ..... Ha .... that`ll get ya .... !
