Apart from Karen Stupples, who I assume is there for some kind of veteran presence,I'm pleased with those picks.

I'd have picked Virginie Lagoutte-Clement or Beatriz Recari over Karen Stupples, but I don't think there was any chance Alison Nicholas would choose four rookies with her Captain's picks.

Overall, pretty satisfied ;whether it's enough to kick Yank arse is still to be decided...

It's actually a parkland course. 7000 trees planted 10-15 years ago, water hazards on nine holes, shallow (i.e. "normal") bunkers. You can see a flyover of all 18 holes:

The four Europe Captain selections: Karen Stupples, Azahara Muñoz, Sandra Gal, Caroline Hedwall do not represent much strenght, but if you compare them to the 4 lowest players in the USA totem pole: Juli Inkster, Christina Kim, Vicky Hurst, and Ryann O'Toole; I believe there is a definite advantage for Europe.

At the top 4 players, the USA has a big advantage; in the middle four the USA has a slight advantage.

So it will depend how the USA adopts to Ireland and the strategic moves by the Captains.
Unlike other Cups, in this one, Rosie strategies could be the deciding point.

My advantage to Europe: Home advantage and very weak 4 players from the USA.

Stupples and Munoz are not good picks in my opinion. Munoz really has fallen off the wagon and Stupples hasn't done anything in years. But again, what are the other options. This just shows how its Asia vs. the rest of the world right now in women's golf.

Aza is my gal...but likely Alison's last pick. Aza is a fairly consistent par shooting player and not an over powering player for team match play.

I don't know which Euro personality and player she might be paired with....Aza is kinda shy......I can't see Alison playing Aza more than 3 matches.

Recari has been performing similar to Aza in 2011.

It would have been nice to see Recari on the team....the more eye candy...the better.

But I couldn't see the Spaniards matched together if both made the team....you don't see Beatriz and Aza chatting much at an event....maybe others can verify otherwise.

I still expect the US to spank the Euros 16-12 or 15-13.

I think (hope) Hedwall is going to really shine for the Euros. She's playing with a lot of confidence and hopefully it will carry over to Solheim. I wonder who Alison will pair with her? Maybe Hjorth initially?

Interesting scores of Solheim Cup participants.
Eight Europeans were in the event and placed from T-5 to T-55
.
The eight top Americans (with the exception of Wie) did well ending in the top 25. The bottom four have plenty of room for improvement as they all missed the cut. With M. Wie thats 5 out of 12 who did very poorly. Rosie must be having a hard time sleeping.

Europe
1 Melissa Reid (England) DNP
2 Laura Davies (England) DNP
3 Suzann Pettersen (Norway) T-10
4 Christel Boeljon (Netherlands) T-18
5 Maria Hjorth (Sweden) DNP
6 Anna Nordqvist (Sweden) T-48
7 Catriona Matthew (Scotland) T-25
8 Sophie Gustafson (Sweden) T-55
9 Azahara Muñoz (Spain) T-25
10 Caroline Hedwall (Sweden) DNP
11 Karen Stupples (England) T-38
12 Sandra Gal (Germany) T-5

USA
1 Cristie Kerr T-4
2 Stacy Lewis T-8
3 Morgan Pressel T-25
4 Angela Stanford T-25
5 Paula Creamer T-8
6 Michelle Wie MC
7 Brittany Lincicome T-12
8 Brittany Lang T-22
9 Juli Inkster MC
10 Christina Kim MC
11 Vicky Hurst MC
12 Ryann O’Toole MC

Anything can happen and will happen in match play.

I still think the US will win 15-13.

BUT

The US were huge favorites in the Walker Cup....and got handed their lunch by GB&I.

When the SC gets closer, I'll post who I think some pairings s/b.

I think Christel Boeljon could be the surprise package in the Solheim.

Five top 5s,including a win,on the LET,this season, top twenty in Arkansas, she really flies under the radar.

One minute you're an unknown,the next you're a star.

Possibly...

I thinki the US Walker cup players read too many of the stories that said they were the best WC team ever.
That's why they play the game!!!!

Now let's hope the SC gals will learn something, eh?
