Wink LPGA Championship Rally

A great rally to save round one!

Webbie started out four over after three holes, then played the final fifteen in five under.

Hopefully this helps build momentum for the remainder of the week.

Go, Karrie, go!

Hey Wayne - if Karrie comes to Calgary in '09 will you be here?

Thumbs up

Hi Putter,

If Webbie comes to Priddis Greens in 2009 I'm definitely going to attend, pending any future happenstance.

Annika's retirement reminded me that Karrie may only play a few more years too, and I'd like to see her play live more than the one time in 2007. It was intriguing to watch an elite player's tournament round preparation and play.

Hopefully, I will get to meet you In 2009 at the Canadian Open, and see Webbie bring home another title at Priddis Greens!

Putter,

Just a little addendum- are you going to Ottawa for the Open this year?

Followed Ocha, Webb and Pressel for the back 9 today, round 2.

Webb was very up and down. Watched her put 2 balls in the water. One at 18 and the other at 12(?), the par 3 at the end of the course, I think that it is 12. She is projecting a lot of anger out there, which is not helpfull.

Ochoa of course is in the zone. Playing almost perfect from tee to green and is projecting suprem confidence.

Cool

Thanks for the update, xman5! I was wondering what happened on 12, 16 and 18.

I've been following realtime scoring online, however I haven't been home to watch the tape yet.

It seems every player must find a way of channeling their emotions in a way that benefits their game.

Karrie has a tendency to berate herself, early in her career it fueled her play; now it seems to have a negative effect. I'm sure she was frustrated in round one, when she started four over through three, however, she turned it around and judging by her demeanor at the time, I think she didn't internalize it as much.

Venting some frustration in a post-shot routine isn't necessarily a negative; Tiger does it all the time. Hopefully, Webbie finds her way, as it would be a shame if it became a factor in how much longer she chooses to play.

Lorena's confidence is through the roof, given her stellar, consistent play during the last few seasons. It's a pleasure to watch. We've been very fortunate to see the likes of Annika, Karrie, and Lorena playing at their best over the past decade.

Keep up the great posts!

Nope, can't do it this year - went to the Ginn in Orlando in April and may go to Portland in August for the Safeway - much closer!

I'm just assuming that Webbie will be in Calgary in '09, or at least I hope she is. Going to volunteer again for that tournament, now that it's in my own backyard, the expenses will be less!

Funny....I've met more people from thousands of miles away and you're just up the road! We'll co-ordinate more as the time nears and the field is announced.

Hi Putter,

Portland is a great event! The players' love it, and it gives you the chance to go bicoastal
in your tournament attendance this year!

Webbie probably has good vibes from winning the DuMaurier at Priddis, so I"m thinking she will likely play in 2009. I may come down for the tournament irregardless.

Did you have a great time at the Ginn? Any good stories you can tell us?

True about the bi- coastal thing Wayne, but I'm still not sure if I'll go or not. By the end of August gas prices could be so high I might not even be able to sniff it!

I do hope Webbie comes back to Calgary - it would kinda be like defending at Priddis.

Oh yeah, I have stories from Florida, but nothing I can put in here! Oh, you meant GOLF stories? Um...no, can't recall any of those.

Hi Putter,

In the spirit of a helpful rationalization, have you considered that gas will be cheaper in the States? It would be a great trip!

Yeah, I'm hoping Webbie decides to try for two for two at Priddis.

It sounds to me like you had a fine time in Florida, a "not suitable for forums" designation is a sure sign of revelry.

Always remember it's not a 'good walk spoiled' if you have some fun!
