HERE WE GO IN THE FIELD'S OPEN...!

The downside of going to Hawaii in January is that I had to return to Canada before Webbie kicked off her Stateside schedule!

Judging by Karrie's tie for low round of the day in the final round of the SBS, it looks like she may be ready to win this week. :D 8)

With a nod to Bandit, ..."back of the cup", Karrie!

Wayne1, nothing Karrie does will surprise me. When we discuss the outstsanding players on the LPGA Tour on this board, she somehow gets overlooked. She's still quite capable of having a very, very good year.

Hi, MarinePaul!

As far as the boards are concerned, I think Karrie will generate a little more discussion once she starts to contend on a regular basis again; the media is another matter! :)

My ideal year for the LPGA would see Karrie and Se Ri return to form to challenge Annika and "the kids"! 8)

Semper fi!

Not a bad scenario, Wayne. Being a Se Ri fan, I'd like that a lot.

As far as the media goes, they think they know what we want to hear about. Unfortunately, much of the piblic assumes the media knows what it's talking about. I want to see the coverage this weekend. The media darlings all play early, so I imagine we;ll see more taped coverage than live.

The current issue of "Golf For Women" (pg 139) predicts that Karrie will be the comeback player of the year. Here's a quote of what they say:

"For the first time since joining the tour in 1996, Webb did not win an LPGA event last year. She is arguably one of the best athelets on tour; now that her Hall of Fame induction is behind her, she'll rediscover her winning ways."

That would be nice. But I'm with MP. I hope Se Ri comes back as well.

I adhere to a somewhat traditional approach to golf and the media i.e.: Just report the story as it unfolds, don't manufacture one.

Unfortunately, that's a utopia that will never come to be...! :)

Let their sticks do the talking!
