The Year of the Tiger

...ummm, no, not that Tiger...February 15th, 2010 marks the start of the Year of the Tiger and many Asian-heritage golfers are embracing this auspicious cycle of the zodiac including...

Michelle Wie with lucky white tigers

...and KLPGA star Hee Kyung Seo, who has told the press that she is planning to develop the "Eye of the Tiger" (where is Survivor when you need them?) in 2010...especially since she was born in 1986, another Year of the Tiger!

Hee Kyung Seo in Crouching Tiger mode!

Because I have a strange sense of what having fun is...I decided to look up birthdates of the Top 50 players on the 2009 LPGA Money List and determine their Chinese Zodiac signs...hey, I like to do research on the web...I also included a few players that were outside the Top 50 and some all-time greats...the group listings reflect their finish on the money list followed by all-time greats, not personal preference...

...for those who follow zodiac signs, in this chart, Boar replaces the name Pig and Ram replaces the name Sheep...

...a note, I stayed strictly by the day the new cycle began not the overall year...for example, Eunjung Yi was born in 1988, the Year of the Dragon...pretty cool, everybody wants to be a Dragon so a lot of people born in 1988, no matter what the day, call themselves Dragons...but strictly speaking, according to Wikipedia she was born on January 11th, 1988 and the Year of the Dragon didn't officially start until February 17th...it also worked the other way...Yani Tseng was born in 1989, the Year of the Snake...but that year began on February 6th, Yani was born (according to Wikipedia) on January 23rd, which places her within the 1988 Dragon cycle...so that's where I put her...

...I need a hobby...

Happy Lunar New Year to all! Xin Nian Kuai Le! May the Year of the Tiger bring you health, happiness and prosperity!

Notable LPGA Tigers: Paula Creamer, Karrie Webb, Eun Hee Ji, Sun Young Yoo, Seon Hwa Lee, Momoko Ueda, Jane Park, Julieta Granada and Aree Song

Here's a little CNN visit to Hong Kong for New Year

...now, the lingerie thing is all good...but purple for friendship? If it's come to the point where you're looking at a woman's purple undies...hasn't it progressed past friendship?

...I'm just saying...

...anyway, seriously...best wishes in the Year of the Tiger!
