Golf Is No Laughing Matter

I hope more parents, whether it's South Korea, the United States or any other country, can find the joy for their kids in playing golf and not just try to build their retirement plans around them...

a few quotes from the story:

“They are only focused on making their children a professional golfer. So the kids know nothing but to play golf. They often skip school lessons to play golf. But imagine if they get an injury and cannot play again. What would they do if they got injured?”

“If you watch an LPGA tournament, you’ll notice that Korean players hardly smile. I think they don’t enjoy playing golf,” said Oh. “One day I came across a young girl at the golf course. She was with her father practicing swings. The girl looked tired, almost falling asleep on the green, but the man forced her to keep playing.”

“Many believe becoming a professional golfer is like winning the lottery. So some parents force their kids to play golf,” Jung explained.

Interesting article,BB. Sad in a lot of ways, and it's something I've felt when watching the players. So much pressure on them too.
