Anyone who thinks he's actually a leader hasn't been paying attention.

When was the last time we had a president who was actually a leader? They're too busy trying to please everyone and run for re-election from Day 1 to take the risks that are necessary to actually lead.

With the glare of 24/7 news coverage this is even more challenging. FDR was the last great leader of the U.S. IMHO. He had the benefit of no term limits and no television -- also no 24 hour cable and talk radio. He wouldn't have come close to even being elected today.

A leader, reagrdless of the media attention or lack thereof, doesn't bow to anyone, including the king of Saudi Arabia. Nor does he apologize for his country.

I do appreciate your varification that he's not a leader. As to who the last leader we had is, I'd say Reagan did a pretty damned good job of showing leadership abilities.

(just my opinion)

He was a terrible leader, with a wonderful ability at PR. They didn't call him the Teflon president for nothing. None of this failures stuck.

But he was a good actor so people believed he was a good leader and a good president.

I didn't really like the man, but look where the country was in 1980 and look where it was in 1988.

To me the test is whether you left things better or worse then when you started.

If Bill Clinton had been spade or neutered, he would have been a great leader!
