Smile

Paula is doing a good job as Captain.
--------------------------
The United States men's team of Jordan Spieth and Ben Martin walked off the eighth green at The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship dejected after their second straight bogey. They were 2-over on their round. That's when their captain chimed in with some advice that put it all in perspective.

"It's a four-round tournament," Paula Creamer said. "You guys haven't even played nine holes yet."

That calmed them down. Spieth and Martin went on to card six birdies and no bogies for a 68. The women's US team of Alexis Thompson and Jennifer Johnson shot a 6-under 66. That gave the Americans a 10-under team total, which has them in a tie for second with Germany at The Spirit, held at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.

You guys are probably tired of this topic but to me it is interesting.

For the individual medal winners, only birdies and better are counted since the overall format is better ball. That means even if your team mate made a birdie first, you don't pick up, you go ahead and putt to try and make your birdie, that is, if you have a birdie putt of course, if not you just pick up. However only one birdie counts, if both team mates made a birdie, towards the team score. A little different than the normal better ball format but it makes sense if you want to have individual winners.

Whatever Paula is doing it seems to be working. Maybe it's the peanut, butter and jelly sandwiches she is making for them each day. Maybe it is her pep talks, or maybe and probably she is instilling in HER TEAM the same love of country and pride in themselves that Paula has displayed at three Solheim Cup tournaments. She is as good as it gets. Unfortunately, she will have to wait a long time before she captains the USA Solheim Cup teams, but she can't do that while she is playing, and if you think she will defer playing to be the captain you have lost your mind

You make it appear that the Americans wouldn't be leading if not for Paula being Captain. That's a stretch don't you think?
After all they are leading by 11 shots, not 1 or 2.

Maybe I think Paula is a great captain doing a great job and you don't. In that you constantly exhibit what a negative jerk you are that is not a surprise. What evidence do you have that her influence has not made an enormous difference. Have you talked to any of the players or just shooting off you mouth? You initially praised her for he pep talk to the guys during the first round which apparently turned them around. Now you question her influence on them. Make up your mind Senior Member.
