The Mexican option. From here until eternity, any female golfer from Mexico will cite Lorena as her inspiration. That's a nice legacy... Pax Vobiscum Saint-Just X |

The wins and the awards were memorable but will be topped eventually, possibly this decade. No one will top what she did for opening up golf in Mexico and in Central and South America. She will also be known for retiring at age 28. People will always wonder what she could have accomplished had she stayed around for another 10 or 20 years. |

This may sound bad, but I hate to say I think she will be remembered as the player who couldn't carry the tour after Annika left. She had a great career, but it could have been better, only 2 majors won't make her a legend, and a lot of people will think she 'dominated' against a weak tour after Annika left. I like Lorena, so that remark is not personal. Had she stayed on tour longer, all the things I just said could become very untrue. As of now though, she will be remembered for her off course achievements, instead of her on course achievements, and it seems that is ok with Lorena, and that is great. She is a great person.

Lorena Ochoa will be remembered for all of the above who married an older rich Divorce man with kids and quit before fulfilling the number of years needed to be inducted to the LPGA's Hall of Fame.

As far as what Lorena might have done down the road, she has previously said that 10 years was as long as she wanted to play. Lorena was clearly not the same player she was prior. As I see it Lorena was never the same player (dominant) after Annika beat her badly one on one the Saturday before Annika won the Mic Ultra in early 08. Really that was the last great rivalry on the LPGA. Annika was so elated to "get that monkey" off her back she announced her retirement just after. Lorena announced her supremacy, so to speak, with that final day, head to head win over Annika at the Samsung in 06. It took a year and a half for Annika to get that revenge and show everybody she still could beat Lorena. It seems after that Saturday Lorena's "magic putting stroke" lost it's dominant quality.
