Ochoa to play in San Antonio

Hi there, I published this on CNNMexico recently, but I guess you'll find it interesting, so here it is in English:

Lorena will play the first edition of the Las Americas Golf Tournament from September 17 to 21 at Westin La Cantera Resort in commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of Mexico's Independence.

This event will help Lorena Ochoa Foundation, since all the money raised will be donated to that institution. The title sponsor is the International Bank of Commerce (IBC Bank).

Any news as to who else might play?

Is it a professional tournament or a Pro-Am sort of benefit event?

Hi there LoJo as far as I know it's a Pro-Am benefit event; there will be a runaway and a gala

Lojo,

It's a scramble format.
---------------------------
The scramble tournament will be conducted on Sept. 21 at both the Westin La Cantera Resort Course and Westin La Cantera Palmer Course.

Companies that do business with prominent Latin American families and businessmen are using the tournament to help foster their business relationships. And while most of the participants will be invited, there are spots available in the tournament. Those interested can buy a foursome for $5,000.

I really think Lorena should play in Mexico, I mean, it's our country's 200th Anniversary of Independence. Just a thought!

I don't understand your comment. You have something against her playing in the USA?

Not at all, what I meant was that she's playing to celebrate Mexico's Independence, right? so I think it would be more suitable to do so in her country, that's it. Nothing against the States, ultimately, she became the player she is after playing for the Wildcats, and then becoming a Futures and LPGA member.

Oh, now I understand completely.

But it's much more than just a golf tournament; it's a four-day event that will feature Hill Country excursions, sightseeing, dining and shopping on the River Walk, theme parks, visits to the Alamo as well as an awards gala and a fashion show. The event also coincides with the Bicentennial of the Independence of Mexico (1810) and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution (1910).

I know my friend, I published the story here in Mexico.

Nevertheless, The Battle of the Alamo has more to do with Texas Revolution and its anexation to the States, than to the Bicentennial and Centennial. In other words, it's important in our history BUT it's not totally connected to the Independence or the Revolution.

Mexican authorities won't spare no expense in celebrating all over teh country.

Stiil, I think Las Americas Golf Tournament and everything surrounding the event will be great and should be fun for those who attend.

Without half trying I could turn this topic into a war of words, but a scramble in San Antonio is not worth the trouble.

Have a good day, Shampi.
