Lorena the choker

She has played three tournaments won two.
She should have won all three I'm sure but she is such a choker

now that's what I would call bashing. However, if someone, anyone, can stay with Lorena on the last few holes on Sunday some negative thoughts about the past just might slip in and make a difference. Lorena has shed the choker image but more importantly the rough is longer in the majors and that accounts for some of the reasons Lorena hasn't had as much success as she's had in regular tournaments.

If anyone recalls last Kraft Nabisco, Pettersen was sailing along until late Sunday when her drives found the high grass. Lorena looks quite fit but so did Suzann last April. Fatigue can hurt the driving game.

Cleo Most golfers have a learning curve when it comes to closing out.
The ones that don't are rare exceptions. Annika being one of them.
She would throw tournaments so she wouldn't have to make a speech.

WOW what a strong statement NOTA. I find it hard to believe that you actually believe what you said, but in any case: lorena has 23 wins so far in five years. That’s most than anyone on tour with the exception of annika with over 70 on a 16 year career. She is only 26; by the end of her career she will have surpassed annika. She has experienced her share of disappointments but who hasn’t she is young and still learning. Give her a break and don’t judge so harshly. Annika did not throw tournaments throughout her career I guarantee it

I also don't think Annika "threw" any tournaments. As far as Lorena surpassing Annika, it's possible, but not assured. There are a lot of fine young players to challenge her. She will definitely have a fine career, but surpassing Annika is far from certain.

Annika reportedly threw a few tournaments as a junior for that reason. I read the same thing about Paula Creamer. They missed a few puts down the stretch so they wouldn't have to give the speech. This is when they were young kids starting out in small local tournaments.

That was as a 13 year old in some local meaningless tournaments, not as an adult and certainly not as a pro.

Never heard that about Creamer. She seems like she was never a shy person.

I was talking about when she was young and being shy.

I don't think Lorena has a choking bone in her body. She had a learning curve of playing within herself on the last few holes she had to learn to take off the kill em attitude and just play her game.

The old heads will remember when she came on tour I said she would win a lot. I predicted she would be the next player to shoot a 59.

Annika did not have to learn to win it seems who ever taught her golf on the pro level really inherited a blessing. Her tempo and attitude about golf is probably the best you will ever see. Thus the name the baby faced assassin.

Annika used to "throw" tournaments as a junior. Read her book - Golf Annika's Way - where she says (page 9):

I can't count the number of times I three-putted on the final hole of a tournament on purpose so that I wouldn't have to give a victory speech. I thought the real reason for my three putts - pure shyness - was my little secret. But some of the coaches were watching me and noticing my not so-coincidental misses.
She goes on to say they got her out of that little stunt by insisting that the runner-up also had to make a speech. She was certainly doing this when she was 16 but yes well before she was playing as a pro.

As for Lorena - I remember she used to have this habit of being a contender and then blowing it away with a triple bogie or worse on one hole - not on purpose of course. That's something she used to do. You don't see it now.
