Lorena?

I think the changes Lorena has made this year...swing, putting stroke, caddie, etc. has her going in the wrong direction. It was to interesting to hear Judy Rankin commenting over the weekend on this very issue. She said that sometimes , in regards to all of the changes Lorena has implemented this year, "you don't have to be perfect". In other words, Lorena was already the #1 player in the world, so why make changes. Her decision to change caddies baffles me the most. If you are going through swing changes, you don't need to be going through a caddie change at the same time. The two should not be done at the same time. It is a recipe for disaster. She has lost her support system out on the golf course. I really hope she turns it around. Watching the tour without Annika has been strange. Watching the tour without Lorena in contention, has been just as strange. Any thoughts?

Not sure what's going on w/ Lorena. Maybe some personal issues regarding her upcoming marriage? Who knows.

Regarding her caddie situation....it seems to me her level of play had dropped off before she fired Dave. In any case, it was odd timing. Do you think she got p.o.'ed because he played in that soccer game and broke his foot? I just wonder why she got rid of him. I can't imagine a player so successful with a caddie (thinking Annika/TMac) just changing for change sake.

She took alot of time off this year too which was odd because there were
already alot of breaks in the schedule to begin with. Maybe she's trying to
emulate Tiger by changing her swing and cut back on the number of tournaments she plays. Both being really bad ideas! She's the number one player in the world playing on a tour that desperately needs her to play tournaments. I can't believe the number of tournaments where she's been a non factor. I think it's time for her to go back to what enabled her to acheive such incredible success! The tour definitely needs her to get back to her winning ways!

I am concerned as well. It makes me realize how fine the line is between being by far the best, to being one of the pack might be in golf.

It seems to be the old story of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'! I'll never know why players who are playing well feel the need to change their swing, if it was working all right, why do it? I also think the caddy change was untimely.

Something Peter Alliss said more than once during The Open coverage was how Tom Watson's swing is the same now as 40 years ago, how come he never found it necessary to change? It was a good swing then, and a good swing now.

She's going to lose her number one ranking real soon to Kerr, Shin or Tseng. Her play has dropped off considerably compared to last year and that is gonna severely hurt her ranking.

On the LPGA, there IS a fine line between Ochoa and the rest right now. On the PGA Tour...no fine line. There is a gap between Tiger and the pack, not a fine line.

The LPGA needs a dominant player....like Annika was for a few years. They have no one now that "scares" the other players the way Tiger does on the PGA Tour (and Annika did at the height of her dominance). The LPGA needs a player that the rest of them...week after week....are working to knock off.

Lorena, right now has lost that. The Asians....well, there seems to be a 'new' one winning all the time, but not ONE who is dominating. Shin and Tseng have the potential, but how will that play out with the US fans? The majority of the casual fans don't know one from the other.

Interesting that the Koreans have never had a number one player. As much as some of these fans are obsessed about the Koreans, theres no way they can flip the facts and say that there has been. Se Ri was very good, but Annika and Karrie always had her beat when it came down to the money list and player of the year.

And on a similar note, Cristie Kerr could possibly become the first American player to lead the money list at years end in 15 years.

Lorena's problems started (IMO) at the Mic Ultra last year. I think she lost some confidence when Annika beat her handily in their head to head in the 3rd round.

Her nemesis, the backward head movement surfaced right after that and she's not putted well since. Obviously other factors are now present (engagement, new caddy, swing adjustments, etc.) but that lose to Annika and her putting woes have affected her confidence.
