Nobody is saying Shamp's is mean but I have read that they put Lorena
over the coals for not winning in Mexico.

I believe what Shampi says. She's never led us down the wrong path yet, and she has considerably more knowledge about this than we do.

Hey MP.. Elf is from Mexico and has first hand knowledge of the Mexican press.
Maybe Shampi and Elf will come on at the same time so we can know for sure.
I remember where I read this it was on Shamp's face book. She can correct me if I'm wrong.

Thumbs up

I have read some nice stories written by Shampi and published in Mexico. I keep a copy of the mag Shampi writes for in my library. The story she did on Lorena is great.
I have never read anything written/published by Elf, so I will stick with Shampi as the expert on the Mexican press.

Viva Shampi

It has nothing to do on who is an expert...it has to do on who to believe and I don't believe any of them, Mexicans! Hahahahahahaha!
Just kidding, shampi and Elf. Both of you are okay in my book.

But seriously, all I'm saying is Lorena is trying to raise some money for her foundation which help lots of boys' and girls' education in Mexico. So, who are we to blame her if she wants to make a little money while she can. Right now she is hotter than the jalapenos in Elf's lunch box. Might as well take advantage of it while she can.

Speaking of lunch box, did you hear about this one?

The year is 2015:

Marine, the American; Paddyman, the Irishman; and Elf, the Mexican are working for construction company. They are on top of a skyscraper doing finishing touches and it's almost lunch time. The Marine opens his lunch box and says, "Hot dogs, again? If I have another hot again tomorrow, I'll jump out of this building." Paddyman open his lunch box and says, "Another corn beef sandwich? If I have another corn beef sandwich tomorrow, I too will jump out of this building." Elf says, "Another burrito? If I have another burrito tomorrow, I'll jump out of this building, too"

The following day, the Marine opens his lunch box and sees hot dogs and jumps out of the building. Paddyman sees corn beef in his lunch box and jumps out of the building. Elf sees another burrito in his lunch box, he too, jumps out of the building.

At the funeral, the Marine's wife says, "I'm sorry, I'm blaming myself for preparing his lunch everyday. Had I known he hated hot dogs, I'd fix him something else." Paddyman's wife says the same thing about Paddy's lunch. Everyone is waiting for Elf's wife to say something. Finally she says, "Hey, don't look at me...my husband fixed his own lunch!"

LOL! LOL!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Shampi is part of the Mexican press and the expert. I just read it.
In general and many of the local readers would agree and probably Shampi also: The Mexican Press is out for blood in the interviews, specially with people from entertainment and sports. I have been present at some interviews and the next day I read the press and gosh; two totally different statements with many comments out of context, etc.
Anyway, why does Lorena grant interviews in the USA and not in Mexico?
Why there are many entertainers and sports figures in Mexico that refuse to talk to the press? Lorena is not the only one.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
I do not think Lorena gave exclusive rights to "HOLA" primarily because of the money. First, she gets a very favorable review of the event. "HOLA" will not concentrate or even mention the flaws, errors, and fiascoes of the event. Two, only one group (probably less than 10 inside the church) of very friendly media will be involved avoiding hundreds of media people who would have ruined a private event. In a normal wedding, everyone hires a studio to get the photos and video and has to dish some money out. In this case she got a very professional "studio" and got paid for it!!!

Ok sorry for my late answer but I went on vacation...

Yes, we (the media) have been harsh on Lorena but there are some reasons; she was quite different last year, she wasn't the girl she used to be and here are a couple of clear examples which changed media perspective and turned us "harsh" or "rude" as Elf says:

1. At last year's MasterCard Classic Lorena had a terrible 2nd. round, she was tossing her clubs and screaming. Media, as it is our job, stood there, for the whole round, some of my friends even skip lunch. Finally Lorena's nightmare was over and the guy who coordinates the press let us know she would answer 3 or 4 questions, after the TV interviews, since she was tired.

So, Lorena came in and left ESPN and Televisa crew waiting for the interview, she didn't look at them at all, even when they were calling her. Anyways, she went straight into the interview area and start talking about her round and how tough it was and when it was time for questions she just said (I'm translating it literally from here: Lorena Ochoa tras la 2da. ronda del Mastercard Classic - ESPN Deportes Video - ESPN Deportes

"I won't answer anything in this press conference, I want to rest. I'm doing it this way because maybe some of your comments, questions or interpretations might be negative or mean and I don't want to hear anything about it. I just want to see the bright side of it and keep it cool and comeback tomorrow strong. Thanks and see you tomorrow"
Ok, so she wants to rest, we get it and it's normal she's not a robot STILL she needs to remember that her duties include talking to the press even when she has a crappy round and when this happens what does she expect??? Of course we wanted to know what was going on, why she was tossing her clubs and why she tends to lose her mind at BosqueReal Country Club? She needs to know that not every single questions is gonna be nice, especially after throwing tantrums.

2. She's not very nice with Mexican media and prefers to talk to foreign one:

At the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Guadalajara, no one could get close to her, yes you could ask at the interview area, but not outside of it, so everyone had just the same information. If you wanted to have 10 minutes with her well you were just adding your name to a endless list of journalists who wanted just the same and that have been waiting for over a year. BUT what happened a week later at the LPGA Championship???

Q. But is this week more straight golf, not as many commitments and you're not hosting friends and family?
LORENA OCHOA: Every week is different. I had yesterday more than one hour of interviews. Tomorrow we have a dinner to attend. It's always -- something is happening.

But besides everything, I'm trying to concentrate and play good golf.
Before this happened no one criticized her because we know our country is on the map thanks to her, but she needs to remember that when she was a kid her brother called the newspapers so they went and see her play. She wasn't getting many attention in Mexico when she was at College until 3 guys from 3 different media gave her some space and time; the same thing happened when she was at the Futures and she even ate at the same table with them.

She's not going to do it again because she can't benefit or trow favors to specific media members, that's for sure, but she can be nicer. Yes, her brother is making some bad decisions and doesn't have as much experience as IMG does, BUT Lorena is not a kid anymore, in fact, she's the boss right??? So what is she waiting for? she needs a management change FAST; oh yes, and an attitude one too...

Sorry for the looooong post, I feel like Wiefan now, hahahahaha. oh and thanks for your kind words regarding my ethic and objectivity

Have a good one!

Interesting what you say about her Shampi .... and I well be watching her closer this year. Sometimes these things are just growing pains, ala massive media attention... we well see in time I guess. Thanks for you views. :-)
