Cristie shoots 62 in first round at Longs, for 4-stroke lead

Cristie shot a career-best round of 62 today to take a four-stroke lead after the first round of The Longs Drugs tournament in Auburn, Calif.

From the 13th to 18 holes, she was -7 with two birdies, followed by two eagles and another birdie. Talking about that five-hole stretch she said,
"It was incredible, you just have to keep your foot on the gas."

Everything was clicking for Kerr as her driving distance was 280 yards, 24 yards more than her normal average.

Cristie will get a lot of TV coverage in tomorrow's 2nd round, as she is paired with Karine Icher from France and Lorena Ochoa of Mexico, and they tee off later, and will be in the middle of their rounds when the TV cameras start rolling at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Even more impressive about this round was that she had to withdraw from the Pro-Am due to food poisoning. Simply amazing.

Maybe that food poisening finally caught up to her MP. She shot 76 and 75 in the next two rounds to now be 14 shots down at even par. Her quadruple bogey on the easiest hole on the course, the par-5 15th, may have proved to be her downfall.

It looks like the girl from Chile may pick up her first win tomorrow. She is shooting lights out.

GT, I think it was that quad bogey on the easiest hole on the course, the one everyone else was getting an eagle on, the 15th.

But she did come back in the 4th round ans shoot even par 71, but her T-47 with a paycheck of just over $3,000, is quite disappointing after oprning with a -9 62!

But congratulations to Nicole Perrot of Chile for coming back to win her first tournament.

Great special.....

Hi ya kaialii....I have just finished watching that Hawaii Special....super dooper greeat stuff.....one of the best I have ever seen....for those that wasn't able to watch it....let me give you a little insight

this was a "special" it showed the Spectacular side of MW, but it also showed the "not special" side.....it talked about her achievements and also her dissappointments....including comments from different sport shows that talked abouther "choking" at the US Open....it was a terriffic special.....the highlight for me was when they went back into time....they showed a lot of Video clips of when MW was a chubby "under 12" year old....her braces and her uncomfortableness at being interviewed was "CLASSIC"....talk about being a "normal" kid.....very entertaining stuff

another thing that was very interesting to me is that they showed her a lot while swinging the clubs as a young 10/11 year old.....I know Gary Gilcrest and David Leadbetter improved her swing....but looking at the young pix of her swinging, you would NEVER guess it....it looks pretty much like what you see now....amazing stuff....same set up, same follow through, same looking finish

all in all....this was a "special" that just told everything "just like it is"....the good, the bad, the tough questions, the cream puff questions....you name it

oh yeah....before I forget....another super funny stuff they showed was Michelle entering High School for the first time....she was dressed just like you would expect a teenager....just like everybody else....the funny part was she was TOWERING over the other kids....in height only....her facial expressions showed that she was in the same grade level....neat video by whoever took it

anyway....this is what I saw tonight....terriffic stuff....anyway....now I am getting jazzed about tomorrow's tournament...it should be fun and interesting and also very very exciting....see ya....have a great day
