I don't know how to factor in part time players, but I guess if you're talking about best players never to have won a major you'd probably want to talk about players who have won something on the LPGA first, so Boola's object of adoration might not be in the running. Maybe we could consider Mi Hyun Kim as well. |

cristie not only is the best player to not have won a major, but she is also: - the best american golfer, hands down. a couple years ago i fought hard to say she was and a lot of people wouldnt budge on their opinion that she wasnt. people would say inkster, mallon, now some people would say creamer, but kerr is americas best by a mile, maybe two or three miles. - and just so i stay consistent on my opinions, i still believe (mid season my opinion changed to go with ochoa on this one, but im back to my original opinion) kerr is the second best player in the world. shes won more than *anyone* besides annika the last 3 years, and her play in the majors has been just as good as ochoa's, and even better when you go back the last two years in the majors. i dont think ive ever seen such an underrated player. hopefully the media will finally take notice of how good she is. |

DJ, that's quite a commitment, but I can't say that I disagree with it, especially being the best American player at this point in time. Your point about going back the past two seasons and comparing her to Ochoa is valid, so you may, in fact, be right in your assessment.

I would have to put my vote in for Lorena... Lorena's had less time in the big leagues than Cristie, but has achieved nearly as much...also, when watching her play from last and this season, you can see her progress. she's consistently contending in the big tournies and has a strong bid for POY this year....I would be very surprised if Lorena doesn't have a major title within the next couple of years....she's definitely a HOF type player. Cristie's a great player...but needed several years to get her game as sharp as it needed to be against the best in the world. and even now (earlier this season), she fades badly after being in early contention...nonetheless, her win over annika this week was terrific and kudos to her! as for rosie, one of the best putters i've seen on the LPGA. but with her ball striking (flatter-than-pancakes swing and corresponding lack of distance) can't say she would have been the favorite at many Major setups...especially with Annika dominating the tour the past decade or so...she takes pride in getting her approach shots closer hitting her 3 iron when her playing partners are hitting 7 irons. stuff of pride, maybe, but not ideal for major wins. from what i can recall, she's not even anywhere close to HOF numbers...... |

4putt, kerr's taken a while to develop, however i dont think you can say just because ochoa has done just as much in a shorter time that she is a better player. i dont think kerr has even reached her peak yet, shes just taken a longer time to find her top form. some start young, some need longer to reach that level. about kerr not closing, yes that was a problem before (on a side note, what the heck is happeneing to paula creamer this year? it seems every final round she plays she falls off the map) but shes gotten a lot better. once again you have to include lorena in that example too, shes had some serious meltdowns. |
