I don't follow statistics and who won what that much...all I can remember in the late 1990's Se Ri Pak's name was all over the front pages of the Newspapers.

Regarding Shin...we shall see. I predicted she will replace Lorena and dominate the LPGA tours in 2009. Even though my heart goes with My Morgan! Go Morgan Go!

Hi ya everyone...by the way...HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!anyway...the question in this poll is "2009 LPGA player of the year"...this is not a poll about the"Rolex Number 1 at the end of the year"...I think Lorena has this Rolex title locked up because of her terriffic previous season...the Rolex #1 will factor in the 2008+2009 achievements...there is no doubt in my opinion that Lorena will continue to play steady top ten type of golf and win a few...thus her title as the Rolex #1 is pretty secured in my opinion

However the question here is "2009" LPGA player...hmmmm...this is up for grabs!!!if a rookie does a tremendous job in tournaments...there is a great possibility for a ROY winner and POY winner being the same

I voted for Wiesy because of my "BIAS" "Hometown kid does great theory"...this could happen, but I don't think so...Wiesy is still sort of like on a "comeback trail"...plus, I don't think she will play enough LPGA tournaments to get into contention for this POY title...however, I do hope that she will play GREAT Satisfying golf in the events that she does play...and if she does this...all is good in my mind!!!going to Stanford and playing on the LPGA Tour is NOT an easy thing to do if you want to maximize your chances at these POY and ROY awards...but this is something that Wiesy wants to do...I cannot fault her for doing what she wants to do, I can only cheer and support her when she does play in events...but the kid is swinging the club pretty well...so for that, all wiemaniacs are kinda happy...and you can never tell what will happen with this kid...lots of surprises in store for all of us...the "wacky World of Wiesy golf" will continue in 2009...hmmmm...I wonder what controversy she can come up with next...mindboggling stuff!!!but we shall see in 2009...go Wiesy go!!

my realistic pick for the 2009 LPGA Player of the year will be Paula Creamer...I think she will win a bunch of Tournaments this year and will place high on those she does NOT win...Paula is playing very very steady High Quality golf

another thing to think about is the winner of the first Major Tournament...whoever this is, is in the driver seat for the POY...win another Major and "Presto"...you become the odds on favorite for the POY...

anyway...just came back from Maui visiting the Grandkids...terriffic stuff...God!!! the Kids are sure CUTE and FUN

anyway...all of you have a terriffic week...see ya!!

then you're a prime example of one who's influenced by media hype aren't you. Can you now blame those who think Wie is going to be ROY & POY. I don't doubt there are some on this planet who think she's been dominating the LPGA since she was 14.

An example, although far from the Wie puffery, is Se Ri. She was awarded by some major publication as either female golfer or female athlete of the year in 98 although another was the actual, points winner as LPGA POY. Care to take a guess as to who that player was?

Creamer had an excellent 08. Lorena has no lock on still being Rolex #1 after the 09 season is over.

If Lorena's buddies cut down the rough again at the Kraft Nabisco she could easily win there . As a darkhorse your pet could contend well into the back nine on Sunday considering her past performances there.

Didn't "Wiesy" say she was going to leave Stanford again after the Winter term? If so, college and golf will only overlap for 3 tournaments (4 if she stays on campus for all of the winter exam period). Who knows if she'll go back to school in the fall. If so there are a few more full field events then that would overlap.

Hi ya Blue...pretty sad times in the NFL, when a team like the Patriots with 11 wins CANNOT even make the 1st round Playoffs as a wildcard...anyway

about Wiesy and school...granted that she will miss only a few tournaments, but in the scope of things...it is these few "potential" tournaments and the competitive practice rounds of these potential tournaments that could mean the difference between getting enough points in the ROY and POY

but then again, the kid has been playing with this type of schedule her WHOLE LIFE...perhaps when her schooling is done...then we shall see a "Full-Time" "committed to GOLF ONLY" wiesy...or considering how wishy washy Wiesy is...perhaps Not...but regardless, the talent is there...here is my personal opinion...the day that Wiesy gets really confident with her Driver and starts booming her drives long and decently accurate...this is when we shall see Wiesy at her best...her long distance, with every club in her bag could make her very dangerous...potentially great Birdie and eagle opportunities galore...this will only come when she can take advantage of her length off the tee...her scattering array of her driver presently is what is causing her to be "Just in the pack"...her three wood driving just keeps her about even with the majority of the players...her ability to hit it long is an advantage of hers that is not being utilized...this is just my opinion...her short iron game is EXCELLENT...her putter is pretty good, but it could be better...but for Wiesy, EVERYTHING STARTS at the teebox...but then again...this could be said of every player out there...hoooo hummmmm

anyway...have a good day...see ya

I'm not going to make excuses for the Pats. They did amazingly well without Brady. All I care about is that the Jets went down. Brett Favre can [unprintable] my [unprintable].

Wow, I'm sounding like LoJo.

About Michelle. Does she have time to wait the 10 years or whatever until she's done with Stanford to be at her max on the LPGA Tour? What'll be by then? 30? I think she should quit school and just play full time on Tour and show us what she's got. Enough of this wait until next year or wait until she's done with school or wait until the injury is healed. She may not have had control of the injury, but she has control of everything else. So drop the excuses, play full time and bring it on! I'm not the biggest Wiesy fan but I want to see the full Wiesy out there against my favorites not a half-Wiesy with her fans telling us that she's only operating at 75% power until she's done with school/rehab/vacation/orientation/a sponsor obligation/etc. Head to head: Yani-Morgan-Jiyai-Lorena-Cristie,etc. vs. Wiesy. If Wiesy ends up on top, I tip my hat.

Bring it on Wiesy!

Hi ya everyone...I have just gotten my "wind" back into my lungs after watching Texas Pull out a victory over Ohio State...what a game...both teams played their Hearts out...whew!!!

anyway...about "Wiesy" "Bringing it on"...I think that once she gets herself at the Tournament and puts away her first round...then she "Will Bring it ON"...here is my problem with this theory...Wiesy is a VERY VERY calculated SAFE type of player in her "First Rounds"...perhaps too cautious as she doesn't want to BLOW herself away in the very first round...however, once she plays the 2nd round and more...the kid starts to get "semi-aggressive" and starts to advance on the leaderboard...why does this happen...I dunno...

I remember announcers saying that you CANNOT win a tournament on the first day, BUT you sure can LOSE it...perhaps this is Wiesy's mindset as she starts a Tournament

I know for a Fact that Lorena, DOES NOT believe in this theory...thus you see that a lot of times, Lorena really shoots Lights Out in her first rounds

oh well...different strokes for different folks...all I know is that Wiesy does play very good steady golf once the first round is over...usually that is

anyway...here is something that I have picked up from this discussion board...did anyone ever notice that some posters now refer Michelle Wie as "WIESY"...GOD!!! I love it!!!hmmmmm...I wonder if the kid knows that some people refer her as "Wiesy"...I have seen this kid play LIVE a ton of times...NOT ONCE have I ever heard anyone in the gallery call out her name of Wiesy

anyway...I started out calling her that name after I thought of a GREAT Marketing move for her and her Team...which they DID NOT follow up upon...I was thinking of a "Teen Type" clothing line with the name "Wiesy" ...sort of like ROXY, GAP, QuickSilver,Nike, Addidas etc...I still feel that this would be a SUPER Move for Wiesy and her Marketing Team to develop

listen to this...I have two girls that are NOW adult...BUT when they were Teenagers, everything in clothing meant getting something with a Brand Name...talk about spending my money...I am sure that I am Not alone with this foolish spendthrift of Hard earned cash...for some reason, Kids love to BUY Namebrand items...if you should find some of these "namebrand Clothes" at Goodwill or the Thrift shop...DON'T let your kids know where you got them...wash it, Iron it professionally, then stuff them into a "NAMEBRAND" Plastic Bag or Namebag gift Box...ahhh the tricks of being a "tightwad" parent...ahhhh the kids sometimes DO NOT know who they are dealing with

anyway...like I said before...in my humble opinion and GUESS...I think Paula Creamer will win the 2009 LPGA Player of the Year...with Lorena giving her a good GOOD Battle...I personally think that Wiesy will have a good enough 2009 season to satisfy ME...just injury-free, self satisfying, steady good consistent golf by the kid will make me satisfied...I am Patient, I can wait for this Wiesy Saga to unfold itself in the future...and believe you me, Wiesy DOES indeed have a great future in golf in stored for her and her fans...I am a BELIEVER...hmmmm I also am a great believer that Carolyn Bivens will get TERRIFFIC Marks from the LPGA when her term of office expires

anyway...this concludes my typing exercise for the evening...see ya everyone...have a good day...see ya!!!go Wiesy Go!!!

Oh Cleo...you want me to say something that I don't want to say.
Whether or not you are an LPGA fan. Whether or not you are a Michelle Wie fan, if you are honest with yourself, you have to admit that Michelle Wie so far, is the most famous lady golfer that ever walk on this planet. I did not say she is the best golfer...just the most famous.Annika, Lorena, and even Nancy Lopez are only known to those who follow women's golf.

What they don't have is Michelle Wie's karisma and magnetism. MW is known even to those who don't follow golf. In physics, the law of magnetism states that "Unlike poles attract each other and like poles repel each other." And that's what is unique, and seperate Michelle Wie from other women golfers. She has an equal balance of wiemaniacs and detractors. While other women golfers like Annika and Lorena have only the positive pole, so to speak. In other words they are likeable.

MW have both the positive and negative poles that's why she attracts people whether they are pros and cons. And if you are an anti-Wie, whether or not you admit it...you are part of the equation. You are a contributor to her popularity. As an example, you a start a thread on MW and it will go on and on like a piece of candy being thrown on ground and sooner or later it will attract a bunch of ants.

If she was a singer, she is the equivalent of Elvis Presly in '50's, the Beatles of the '60's and Michael Jackson of the '80's. If she was a boxer, she is the equivalent of Mohammed Ali in the 60's and 70's and Mike Tyson in the '80's. If she was a basketball player, she is the equivalent of Michael Jordan of the '80's and early '90's. If she was a presidential candidate, she is the equivalent of Barack Obama.

If she was a poster here, she is the equivalent of...Not Boola, because everyone seems to disagree with Boola, so he is the negative pole. Not Wiefan because everyone seems to like Wiefan, so he is just the positive pole. She is the equivalent of the Danger, because when Danger tells his jokes, you either hate him or like him. I rest my case.

Note: The above is my blog!

Wie does attract a lot of attention and discussion. She has fame and celebrity. There is no doubt about that. But charisma? (or karisma as you put it) You should look up the definition of that word.

Polarizing is probably a better word to describe her. Controversial is another.
