As far as I know there isn't any official way to "retire" on the LPGA Tour other than dropping off the Priority List. You can say you're not going to play again, but that doesn't change your status.

Does this Brazil tourney count as being "on" the LPGA this year?

If so, I'll go with Stanford.

Weak, weak field.

You know I was just being facetious.

But..my definition would be if she had decided to quit playing on any professional women's golf tour.Chosen a new path in life, hung up the clubs, never to be used in anger again.

Mind you,as she hasn't played since the back end of 2008,and one would need a team of highly-trained sniffer dogs to find her on the Rolex rankings list,it's probably moot...

It depends how desperate the Americans are for a winner.

By my criteria, this week's 36 hole jaunt in Brazil shouldn't count towards anything.

Even if it is 'sanctioned' by the LPGA,..

I agree. This is a terribly weak field. It shouldn't count toward anything except frequent flier miles.

Hilary Lunke's win was the best victory I have ever seen. And she did not win because Annika hit a bad shot to 18. Annika was still a shot behind, so a birdie was no guarantee even if she had hit a decent shot.

Kerr is my choice for first American to win this year. She has the best stats for 2010.

By the way Annika's wayward shot in that US Open was "designed" to drop from the trees "safely". Someone who was at the scene said normally that is what will happen there but when Annika's shot hit the tree and dropped down it hit a spectator who wasn't paying attention (she should have taken that possibility into consideration) and the 59 went for a roll.
