GOLF/Her fans have been waiting a long time for this moment. After years of anticipation, and waiting the child star prodigy has finally made good, and has taken out her first LPGA title at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational held at the Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The 20-year-old Korean-American, fired a three-under par 69 on the final day to win. Michelle shot rounds of (70 66 70 69) for a total of 275 or 13-under-par over the four days. Coming in 2nd was Paula Creamer who finished at 277 or 11-under-par two shots behind Michelle, and tied for third was Morgan Pressel, Jiyai Shin, and Cristie Kerr who each came in at 10-under-par.

Michelle’s winnings for the tournament is a $220,000 share of the purse. Michelle now stands at 14th on the money list with a total of $918,659.00

2009 has been a great year for Michelle she has finished in the top 10 in eight of the tournaments she has played this year. Finishing runner-up in this year’s SBS Open and Navistar LPGA Classic.

Last years defending champion Angela Stanford finished up at in 33rd place at 9 over par for the tournament. Lorena Ochoa the tournament host finished up at 7-under-par.

The Lorena Ochoa Invitational Tournament is fairly new event it first started in November 2008 and is recognized by the LPGA as official event. Proceeds from the tournament help support the Lorena Ochoa Foundation and the money is used to support educational youth projects.
