Bo-bae-Song-Mizuno-Classic-2009Song Bo-bae claimed her first LPGA victory the Mizuno Classic held this year at the Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club, Japan.

The 23-year-old scored a 68 on the final day to take her to 15-under-par (201) total for the tournament and a three-stroke win over Lorena Ochoa, Brittany Lang and Park Hee-young, who each scored 12-under total (204). Shin Ji-yai, the defending champion of the Mizuno Classic, finished in a tie for fifth with Yani Tseng, Jeon Mi-jeong and Park In-bee at 11-under-par 205.

This is the 2nd year that a South Korean player has claimed victory, and the 11th title claimed by Korean golfers this season.

Song, who looks to be finishing the season strong this year also won the Japan Women’s Open last month. With the Mizuno Classic victory, Song, a two-time best player awardee of the KLPGA, has earned an US LPGA card for 2010. Song said she is not yet sure if she will pursue US LPGA tournaments. For winning the tournament Song recieved $210,000 in prize money.

The lowests scores of the day were from Akane Iijima from Japan who scored a 8-under-par on the 2nd day and Lorena Ochoa who scored a bogey-free round, and holed eight birdies on the last day for 8-under-par.
